The cultural influence of clothing gives menswear a much more interesting element. Throughout the research I have focused on two major points of interest, texture and print. I believe they are the main basis in any design and bring any outfit to life.

The Moroccan architecture includes strong lines, rustic shades and beautiful arches. The carved patterns are stunning against the walls, mixing patterns can be exciting, lines, angles and shapes coming from all directions.

The beautiful carvings of the buildings add grandeur to it, likewise with the doorknobs. I created repeated patterns of it and photo shopped them on to t-shirts.

From carpets and embellishments, I then looked into Moroccan architecture, with repeat carvings on both doors and walls. The style adds a strong surface and tactile factor to it. Styles I noticed to be similar to this were mainly in knitwear, both jumpers and in trousers also, which came from WGSN.

Detailing in garments is important, the embellishments and embroidery from these designs adds texture and gives a higher level of interest to any fabric.

Tassels

Along with the traditional style carpets you get, there were also very modern styles there that had a slight cultural feel to them, adding bold colours and tassles to standard menswear clothing. It gives that bit of excitement to something often plain.
